Perth Adventure Day 7 (Part 2)

We now continue our journey after a heavy meal of 'CHOOKS', one of the many Aussie version of KFCs. Fast food is considerably cheaper than 'hawker' food in Australia, unlike Singapore.

Note to readers: Read Part 1 first if you have not before proceeding! =)

After a couple hours drive we reach Cape Naturaliste, a scenic spot for a nice nature walk, suntanning, diving, and also to visit the whale sighting point.

I can cry when I think of ECP compared to beaches like these.

Trigger happy moments here we go!

I just love the sun...

Enjoy the sceneries!

A short drive later we reach Cape Naturalise lighthouse and its adjourning nature trail. The sun might look scorching hot but its a cool 25 degrees max I reckon. I didn't apply any sunscreen throughout the trip and I still didn't get burnt or tanned. ARRGH.

Forget fish. I'm the other white meat.

Ah yes there it is. Cape Naturalise lighthouse.

We refused to pay the AUD $10 entry fee for a guided tour on within the lighthouse as we had to wait for sometime before the next scheduled tour. Time is really of essence in this road trip. Too much to see, too little time to. Haiz. We then made quick work of the nature trail surrounding the lighthouse and headed straight to the whale watching bay.

Whales are supposedly spotted along the trails...

I was very fortunate to be able to capture this picture along the trail. Had to stealth walk to this bird to get a close up. And it flew off a few seconds after this shot. Im no ornithologist so I hope someone can tell me what species this is.

The trail is some 2km long? Comfy wooden lodges like these provide timely rests.

The trail continues...

We weren't as lucky as this morning. The migrating whale packs took a hike. Did not manage to sight any after hanging around there for about 10 mins...

Back on the road again! And were headed next to see...

A rock!

Tucked in the corner of Cape Naturalise is an area of amazing formation of rocks with the most outstanding one labelled as 'Sugar Loaf' rock. No idea for the reason of its name but you can see it clearly behind me. Hahaha.

That wraps up our trip for the Busselton area and we drove further south to Margaret River region.

Make hay while the sun shines! Well literally. These hayballs look incredibly cute. Somehow hay is collected and wrapped up in cute balls during summer to be stored and subsequently used as fodder in winter.

First sign that we have entered Margaret River Region!

Yup their world renowned vineyards dotted across the area. We trespassed I'm sure, at great personal risk to bring you this closed up picture of what grapes look like when its tiny and unriped. Hahaha. Wrong season to be there but still not a reason not to. Nightstar will follow up with more pics and posts on wineries and vineyards!

Daylight is running out and we had to find someplace to spend the night. After a series of unsuccessful attempts at lodgehouse in Margaret River town, we found a nice lodgehouse just a few kilometres away from town.

Which I feel turned out to be a blessing in disguise. As that lodge is located in the outskirts of the town surrounded by jungles and breathtaking flora. It's sort of like a farmhouse as well. Complete with a stable and a few cows. After checking in and buying groceries from IGA (their version of something like Cold Storage), we saw this on our way back just in front of the lodge...

Spot the ROO!!! The landlady told us there's a kangaroo herd that resides in the jungle just metres away from our lodge! How cool can that be? We decided to go for a nature walk the next morning and try to find them.

How can I ever miss a sunset like this?

The Chuas are great cooks. And I'm a great eater. =P Nah not really. But hey I am a talented dish washer ok... Don't play play...

In no time we had hot chicken bolognese pasta, corn soup and a huge bowl of ceasar salad...

Dig in!

The common room is filled with tons of games to play!

That brings us to the close of day 7. There are much more photos which I regret I do not have time to load up. But I hope our abridged version of the trip so far was sufficient!

Nightstar will be back with more installations! Its time for me to hit the sack...
