Why am I feeling sleepy....

When the medicine says it may cause sleeplessness??
----
Well.. I spoke too soon. Lie on bed for more than 2 hours before I can fall asleep!! So I wiki-ed for Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride, and this is what I found..
  1. Pseudoephedrine's is extremely popular as a precursor in the illicit synthesis of methamphetamine. (!!!)
  2. When activiated by pseudoephedrine, the muscles contract, causing the blood vessels to constrict. These constricted blood vessels now allow less fluid to leave the blood vessels and enter the nose, throat and sinus linings, which results in decreased inflammation of nasal membranes as well as decreased mucous production. Thus, by constriction of blood vessels, mainly those located in the nasal passages, pseudoephedrine causes a decrease in the symptoms of nasal congestion. (No more blocked nose!!)
  3. Common adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with pseudoephedrine therapy include: CNS stimulation, sleeplessness, nervousness, excitability, dizziness and anxiety. Infrequent ADRs include: tachycardia and/or palpitations. (Be still my heart....)
  4. Rarely, pseudoephedrine therapy may be associated with hallucinations, arrhythmias, hypertension, seizures and ischemic colitis; as well as severe skin reactions known as recurrent pseudo-scarlatina, systemic contact dermatitis, and nonpigmenting fixed drug eruption. Pseudoephedrine, particularly in high doses, may also cause episodes of paranoid psychosis. (Scary!!)

Now, I can't concentrate on my notes and exams are just 3 days away, and I can't go to sleep. Gosh!
