Brevard Day 2 140209

Check out the view from the mountain house!

It was a cold morning as we woke up late and enjoyed the weekend break.

Where the clouds meet the mountain tops... This is such an amazing little town.

And there was a whole lot of us sitting here from time to time during the weekend, just sitting back and enjoying the view with a can of cold beer or a cup of hot coffee. THIS IS LIFE!

The exteriors of the house. You can see the slope of the mountain from here.

A cool group photo before we set off!

Some random pictures of Brevard Town

Stopping by at a cafe for a quick cup of joe

First stop of the day! Triple Falls!

The entrance of the natural attraction

Parts of the trail to the waterfall

Time for a mini hike!

Warning signs along the way not to climb on the rocks

YEAH RIGHT!!! Hahaha. I love this cool photo taken by Andrew. Its as close to one of the waterfalls as I can get. I can literally put my hand into the rushing water.

Another waterfall...

And hence the name Triple Falls as you can see for yourself...

We found a big enough rock that can accommodate 20 people as we sat down and eat our packed lunches. Its a joy just to sit by the cool and peaceful river and enjoying lunch with good company.

Towards the end of the river...

This was the big piece of rock where we were all sitting at and enjoying lunch!

It was pretty much free and easy after that and there were many people like us who are just there for a tan or just to take a nap with the flowing sound of water in the background.

I went random snapping with my olympus

There were many of such deep tiny pools of cold water all along the rocks. I wonder what they are other than some novel way of taking pictures...

The route to the waterfalls...

Cool group photos before we move off...

We took more shots along the way back to the carpark... What was I thinking then???

We're on the road again and by then it was already mid afternoon. In the foreground you can see a mining quarry.

Gas gas gas

We went to another waterfall and I forgot what's the name of this place. (View from the top of the mountain)

But check out the view at foot of it! There was a beautiful rainbow across the water fall that day. There must be a pot of gold under the plunge pool! But its too cold to be swimming anyway.

Towards the peak, the side of the walls of mountains are covered with ice because its too darn cold...

This couple went past the barricade and got closer to the waterfall. Must be pretty romantic just to chill there. Singapore is too darn small!

And we are off again. This time going up the mountains past many mountain tunnels and winding roads just to have dinner at Asheville.

We stopped for a short while at this overlook just to soak in the scenery

The winding mountain roads and the literal picture of driving in the clouds

We headed for one of the BEST pizza chains in North Carolina

The very colourful decorations above Mellow Mushroom restaurant

The pizzas may not be cheap but they are worth every penny that its paid for...

Check it out!!!

Its also entertaining to see the many chefs tossing dough into the air. Their playful actions result in such wonderful gastronomic creations. Amazing pizza!

And we were really hungry too

Because it was so cold and we were still waiting for the other car to arrive as it was parked somewhere else. 8 of us squeezed into Sidd's car and tried to take a group photo. Its amazing!

I've done quite a good job myself taking this photo! Hahaha! At least there's a bit of each of us in this picture!

We reached back late at night and went star gazing by the private road. Its really cold but I managed to stay out there on the road and just lie down and enjoy the little bulbs in the sky.

It was really hard to spot the Orion belt because there were just too many stars in the sky to begin with. But I managed to see 2 shooting stars in a span of 30 minutes! I was really fortunate that night.

We got back in and started to drink, play cards and watch scary movies till early in the morning.

Somehow Sidd and the rest got another crazy idea of making brownies in the middle of the night. Like at 3am???

Guess what went in? Wine, marshmellow, and nearly a sliced of leftover pizza if we didn't stopped him in time. He was really high that night.

It was really hilarious trying to see them operate the oven in their semi-sober state. Haha. But they finally got it settled with the help of an Austrian girl.

Sidd guarding his prized possession. And to his credit, it actually tasted good!

The final erm creation? Abstract food I'd call it...

It was so funny seeing Annika and Sidd fight too as they pasted chocolate over each other.

That sort of wraps up the Brevard trip as we droved back to Greensboro the next day afternoon. Many thanks to Rebecca for getting us the free house and also for organising this awesome trip for the whole lot of us.

Be back soon with more posts!
