London Day 2: 22nd May 2009, Friday

We got woken up at 4 plus... think partly because of jet lag but mostly because the sun was shining brightly at 4. We learnt to appreciate the long days of summer where the sun sets at around 9 in England (and around 10 in Scotland) and is bright at 4.

First stop: London Transport Museum at Convent Garden

The tube system in London is very much like Singapore's as well as Sydney's, and is very easy to get around. But Sel and I do not like Baker Street Station (which is many times our City Hall) as we were nearly lost the few times we were there and it was really confusing! Another thing is that people stand on the right and walk on the left!

Love this pic! This is the first pic I took in UK and it really sets the weather scene for the rest of our trip there! Great weather!

Our "passport" where we feed into each of these green pillars and get stamps. The first stamp is a horse drawn carriage!

The whole exhibit is like going through a time machine starting from the 1800s. The lift going up to the 2nd floor (or 3rd floor in SG terms) count backwards from 2009 to 1800, and it took us the 2nd lift ride to realise that it is going back in time!

There are life sized exhibits... where the wheels are about the same height as Sel...

As well as miniature models complete with humans and dogs...

Steam trains....

Boarding!

Ready to go travelling!!

Going up the spiral staircases of the bus....

One of the many interesting exhibits...

Random train tickets...

Bus terminal!

Waiting to cross the road...

The tube!

Have you left anything on the tube before?? I really love this!

The many cute handle grips....

The London bus...

World's longest escalator: 60m!

Lunch time!

People watching while eating... Love the cobbled street! Looks like London!

Then we walked around Convent Square Garden but did not get anything. Walked to Oxford Street where the main shopping district is and stepped into H&M and the 4 storey high Topshop. Topshop is not as cheap as I thought but there were so many pretty dresses!

Dinner was at Marks&Spencers where we had pasta (King Prawn & Pasta for me, British Chicken & Pasta for Sel).
