My latest movie conquest

Yay! Guess what movie I caught this weekend???

Tadaaaa..............

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Yeah. Although it's only slightly lesser than an hour and a half, it is a great movie for the whole family and those interested in just sitting back and enjoying good zoological humour.

Cute animal expressionss and hilarious movements can be commonly seen in this movie. Not too mention witty remarks and convivial camaraderie which really brings out the exuberance of the commonly thought boring and lifeless jungle.

Of characters worth mentioning are probably those that are portrayed in the picture above itself. I shall not spoil the movie line for those who hae not seen it. But I gotta say I really love that quartet of penguins. Really cute and comical.

And guess what?

What better place than to watch it exclusively at Princess Cinema in Bedok, where a weekend ticket costs just as much as a weekday ticket elsewhere. Which is a good bargain for not-so-financially-stalwart people like yours truly.

With so many movies to catch this this season, it's probably wiser to save more money.

Well, still no movie is complete without companionship.

Thank YOU for being there and making the movie perfect.

Try this highly addictive game!

Hey peeps! Try this highly addictive game.

The aim of the game is to find all 13 items to enable you to get out of the room that you were "trapped" in. It may be easy, it may be not. But you sure do need a lot of patience and an eye for detail. The creator of this game said that probably only 4000 people in the whole world could solve this.

And I'm proud to say that I am one of them! Hahaha. But it took me a friggin 3 hours plus though before I'm through. Have fun!

And do not cheat by looking for the answers online! Have some integrity and endure! Hahaha.

Cos' I'm leaving...

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go,
I'm standing here outside your door,
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye.
But the dawn is breaking, its early morn,
The taxi's waiting he's blowin' his horn,
Already, I'm so lonesome I could die.

So kiss me and smile for me,
Tell me that you'll wait for me,
Hold me like you'll never let me go.

Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane,
I dont know when I'll be back again,
Oh babe I hate to go.

There's so many times I've let you down,
So many times I've been around,
But I don't know, they don't mean a thing.
Every place I go I think of you,
Every song I sing, I sing for you.
When I come back I'll wear your wedding ring.

So kiss me and smile for me.
Tell me that you'll wait for me.
Hold me like you'll never let me go.

Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane,
I dont know when I'll be back again.
Oh babe I hate to go.

Now the time has come to leave you,
One more time oh let me kiss you...
Now close your eyes and I'll be on my way.
Dream about the days to come,
When I wont have to leave alone,
About the times that I wont have to say...

And I'm leaving on a jet plane,
Don't know when I'll be back again.
Oh babe I hate to go.

Happiness is...

Happiness is...

Waking up late in the morning,
Thereby having 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep,
Awaking just in time for lunch,
Of lovely Katong's wanton mee.

Happiness is...

Slacking at home after lunch with a big belly,
Having no worries and no chores for the noon,
Pursuring the papers at a leisurely pace,
While watching dramas and cartoons.

Happiness is...

Hogging the com all by yourself,
Blogging with no one over your back,
Or flipping through the pages of a book,
With a handful of candies off the rack.

Happiness is...

Getting ready to go out the slacker's way,
Baggy jeans and an un-ironed top,
With scruffy shoes and face unshaved,
Gosh I wish these days would not stop.

Happiness is...

Meeting the pretty dame for dinner,
On a sumptuous Kenny Rogers meal,
And jostling through our favourite mall,
For window shopping without frills!

Happiness is...

A session of sharing that's sorely missed,
Over a stroll and interwoven hands,
Oblivious of the weekend crowds and the distractions,
Through uncharted paths that's how we went.

Happiness is...

Being ambushed by a group of long-lost friends,
As well came the introduction of Salsa dance,
Staring together in amazement and awe,
In full admiration of the intricate stance.

Happiness is...

Walking the princess right to her doorstep,
Giving her a big goodbye hug in the moonlight,
Promising her there will never be a last night together,
A kiss from her, that's how it'll end the night.

Happiness is...

A cool shower and fresh clean clothes,
With my bedtime comic sprawled over my matress,
Letting those weary eyes close by itself,
Arranging for another meeting,
Under the starry skies with my lovely countess.

This is what happiness is...

I wanna SQUASH!!!

I badly wanna squash...

I miss the deafening sounds of the hard rubber ball smashing against the concrete.
I miss hearing the echos within the walls.
I miss running all over and chasing after those little black dots.
I miss being able to release all energy in a single concentrated shot.

Haiz... I miss squash.

But check out these cool venues where squash are being played elsewhere...

Is it really worth it?

1 Company,
2 Days of Shooting,
18 Lanes for firing,
22 Instructors,
181 Recruits,
200 M-16 rifles,
700 Magazines,
6000 Target Boards
27,000 Rounds of ammunition,

1 Range Package,

Thereby causing,

Countless miss-fires,
Millions of I-A's (jamming of rifles),
27,000 Expended rounds (some are returned though),
6000 Used Target boards (of which less than half got hit thanks to cock-eyed shooters),
700 Very hot magazines,
200 Dirty rifles,
181 Tired maggots,
22 Cranky and coarsed-voiced instructors,
18 Lanes littered with empty ammunition cartridges,
2 Days of fruitless shooting (the total score for this range was one of the lowest),
1 Extremely tired and sleepy company.

Which explains why I only managed to blog in the late morning. Bloody re-shooters in range caused the whole company to only cease fire at 11pm last night. Meaning that we slept at around 2am and only managed to book out early this morning.

I, and a few other instructors, nearly lost our lives back at Range yesterday. Thanks to the foolishness and ignorance of the recruits. Sheesh. No wonder instructors deserve the extra pay more than section commanders out there in the units.
Despite us reminding thr recruits that they must, at all times , point their rifles to the front (in the direction of the targets), they refused to comply. Here's one good example...

Recruit XYZ was firing as per normal.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Click!
Uh-oh. As a trained specialist, I'd recognised the sound anytime. Bloody jammed rifle.
Recruit XYZ finally realises it too.

*Turns around from target to face me (I was standing behind him), with a LOADED rifle pointing straight at me*

"Sergeant! I-A!" (meaning a jammed rifle requiring an Immediate-Action)
"&@*!^#%$&@*!^#%$!!!",
"OEI! POINT YOUR RIFLE TO THE FRONT!!!", I shouted.

*at the same time, rushed towards him and shoved his wayward pointing rifle back to the front*

Then I went and helped him remedy his weapon. Sheesh. Another close shave. Had that rifle suddenly snapped back to life, it would be the end of me. Which really makes me marvel at the destructive power of a rifle. There lies, in the hands of a recruit, a device which is capable of taking away lives. I shudder to think what that weapon could do in the hands of an insane recruit.

Is it really worth it?

Which was why weasel maintained that recruits must be treated very nicely and tenderly as they may pull something funny in Shooting range and Grenade range. Sheesh.

I am just so glad that it's over and I'm home.

Safe and Sound.

Of twisted thoughts

What should one do to someone who once trepassed you,
One who was once nasty or mean to you?
What would one do if one now has the chance,
To take revenge for that person's misgivings?

To make him pay for what he once did,
To make him recant what he once said,
To make sure he remembers how he once treated you,
To remind him that what goes around comes around?

Would you pay him back in his own coin,
And throw the book back at him,
Make his life miserable while you can,
Since you now have the power to do so?

Or would you forget what once was past,
Forgive his petty and beastly deeds,
Since it was almost eons ago,
That he once was mean to you?

What would you do?

Green with envy

Yay! Xin Yi is back from her week long stay in Taiwan! And I got lotsa snacks to eat! Yummy. I love tai yang bings. Slurp! Woohoo.

But I'm jealous.

1. She gets to spent twice the amount of time there exploring than I did. Dang!

2. She gets to go Taipei 101 b'cos its finally opened! (It was not when I was there) Hrummph!

3. She travelled by luxurious SQ airlines while I took lousy Eva airways. Bah!

4. She tried more rides than I did in Leofoo amusement gardens! Arrgh...

5. She even have her own ROAD!!! Grrrrrrr.

Check it out. Its even drawn on the tourist map.

Just you wait till I find it.

Stop gloating there! Hrummph.

1.5 weeks and I'm almost dead

It was a horrible forthnight for me. Starting with the enlistment of the pes c batch. Recruits this time came from all walksof life, unlike my previous jc-ed recruits. It is intimidating to take a platoon of recruits with half of them sporting "ang kongs"(tattoos) all over their bodies. It does not help when a quarter of them speak to you in hokkien and claim that they do not understand English. Sheesh

To make things worse, most of my recruits are much older than I am with the eldest at 25 years. The rest are the same age as me. Bah! Some are married. One had 2 kids already. I was really intimidated by these people initially. Several had criminal records ranging from theft to gang fights. What have I got myself into? However, my impression of these guys were changed as soon as it was formed. If there was one word that would describe them, it would be MOTIVATED.

Despite being in pes c, most of them are extremely hardworking and eager to perform. They are also tougher in terms of being able to withstand the shit that we threw at them than the previous pampered-to-the-max jc batch. Yeah. My self-coined instructors credo : Nothing make an instructor work harder than seeing his trainess hard at work. Guess it sums it all up.

Along with the pes c also came the chao kengs. recruits who report sick at the slightest reasons, be it rashes, flu, colds, coughs, dust-allergies, depressions etc. The list goes on. Which makes me quite happy actually to hear that for the month of May I kena one weekend duty. At least no need to handle recruits and juz slack in the office.

Then came another group of recruits. The super blur type. Recruits losing their id tags, id cards, helmets(thankfully not rifles), handphones etc. On the second night, there was even one recuit who came knocking at the company office at 10pm when all of us were watching tv, drapped in his green towel and clutching toiletries. The reason? He can't find the toilet.

ROOOOOOOOAR!!!
"WHY CAN"T YOU ASK YOUR PLATOON MATES INSTEAD?"
"YOU MAY BE BLIND BUT I EXPECT AT LEAST ONE PERSON IN THE PLATOON TO KNOW WHERE THE TOILET IS WAD!"

Boy was he royally screwed.

All the nosh that we have to go through daily. It was indeed hectic tending to all the many needs of the recruits while training them simultaneously. Life was horrible. 'Cause YOU were not there. I miss YOU.
